NEWS

The steam yacht Quiet Presence is again available and for an advantageous price to the right potential owner. The plan to run her as a tourist boat in Bar Harbor did not work out, but that was not the fault of the boat. Interested parties should email us.

We are again taking Barbara south -- Straight to Bermuda this time, then to Tortola. For an account of the first stage of the trip click here (Dec. 5, 2009). For the second stage (Nantucket to Bermuda) click here (Jan 20, 2010). The third stage (Bermuda to Tortola) is now online. Click here . The fourth stage (the BVI and USVI, Updated Feb. 15) is now online. Click here . The fifth stage (St. Croix to Culebra, Updated March 2) is now online. Click here . For the sixth stage (Culebra to Boqueron), click here .
For the 7th (Boqueron and Puerto Rico), click here.

Many people have said they wished we had maps on the site, but that has been a technical problem for me. Now, however, I have a partial solution: Each of the following links will let you download a .KML file that you can open in Google Earth or Google Maps (there probably is a more graceful way to do this, but I don't know it yet). Maine to Bermuda
Around the British Virgins
British and US Virgins
St. John to St. Croix
St. Croix to Culebra

I have started writing columns for Maine Boats, Homes & Harbors online magazine called "The View From my Mooring." Anyone interested can read them here .
